By transferring foil to the material, it gives a metallic look (metallic luster) which creates a luxurious and impactful impression. Typically, there are 2 ways to transfer the foil to the
printed material. One is the ‘binder method’, where the foil is placed on top of pre-printed primer (as a glue). The other is ‘hot stamping’. The foil is transferred (or thermocompression
bonded) to the material by applying pressure to the foil with a heated letterpress. We use the ‘binder method’, and that makes it possible to apply to not only resin (plastic) materials but also
metal materials.
This is how the foil technique (binder method) works.
The red part is the ink (primer). The primer is printed on the material in advance, and foil is placed on top of it.
Raised foil printing is our own special technique, in which foil is placed onto the printed material after raised printing. It is a new look that can express a 3D and luxurious feel. Click here to see more sample photos of Raised foil printing. (Please click on the red text)
